Washington State Assn of Community Bands July 23, 2005

Preliminary plan calls for Production by Elma Theater as commissioned by; Elma Downtown Merchants Assn. with possible subsidies by City of Elma Arts Commission with additional possible  subsidies by National Endowment for Arts through Wash. State Arts Commission, One fifth of $5 ticket/pass sales may benefit Elma McCleary Lions Club or The Elma Children's Theater Association and/or other non-profits in return for their volunteers doing the venue building mgt. including selling and viewing ticket/passes at Elma Theater, Former Masonic Lodge Bldg, Former American Legion Bldg, Elma Grange Hall, Elma Eagles (maybe) Music Factory (maybe).  The Traditional Finale Massed Band Concert at a Elma Middle School Gym (If really warm weather could be moved outdoors to nearby football field stands) will be free to the general public per terms of sponsorship by Elma Chamber of Commerce in return for their providing  insurance coverage as required by the Elma school district. Additionally if this event is free to the public the school district will not charge us rent for their facility. The remaining $4.00 will be divided between attending bands as follows. Each band will be guaranteed $100.00 regardless of enough sales. Each band will be paid $200 if enough $5 passes are sold. Remaining funds will be used to pay back the first $100. Thence remaining funds will pay rent in amount each of $100 to Elma Theater, Masonic Lodge Bldg. and Grange Hall etc. In the very remote chance there are still funds left they will be split evenly between the The City of Elma Arts Commission (thereby possibly paying them back for their investment) for  possible annual repeats of this type venue and The Washington State Association of Community Bands (they can vote between themselves to divide these funds or leave in their treasury. While it is agreed $100 or $200 is not much for these large  bands consider the Puyallup Fair that paid nothing for years. Note that all indoor auditoriums are within two or three blocks and we will attempt to have Chartered Grays Harbor Transit buses between all buildings. It is possible to get to and from Elma to and from Olympia by Grays Harbor Transit #40 bus from the Olympia Transit Station. Elma is a small town with about a eight block (four block long) business district (one stop light) and lots of parking at the high school lot two blocks West.
